Mixed-Criticality Scheduling Upon Permitted Failure Probability and Dynamic Priority

چکیده

Many safety-critical real-time systems are considered certified when they meet failure probability requirements with respect to the maximum permitted incidences of per hour. In this article, mixed-criticality task model multiple worst case execution time (WCET) estimations is extended incorporate such system-level certification restrictions. A new parameter added each task, characterizing distribution WCET estimations—the likelihood all jobs a finishing their executions within less pessimistic estimates. Efficient algorithms derived for scheduling represented using both uniprocessor and multiprocessor platforms independent tasks. Furthermore, 0/1 covariance matrix introduced represent dependency between An efficient algorithm proposed schedule failure-dependent Experimental analyses show our outperform current state-of-the-art algorithms.

Mixed-criticality scheduling upon unreliable processors

An unreliable processor is characterized by two execution speeds: a normal speed and a degraded speed. Under normal circumstances it will execute at its normal speed; unexpected conditions may occur during run-time that cause it to execute more slowly (but no slower than at its degraded speed). The problem of executing an integrated workload, consisting of some more important components and som...

Fixed-priority global scheduling for mixed-criticality real-time systems

There has been a growing interest in recent years in mixed-criticality real-time systems in which tasks are attributed different levels of criticality based on the degree to which their deadlines must be assured. While most of the initial efforts on mixed-criticality systems targeted single-processor systems, the research community has recently started to investigate multiprocessor mixed-critic...

Extending Mixed Criticality Scheduling

The capability of hardware is constantly developing in capacity, speed and efficiency. This development has sparked industrial and academic interest in how best to utilise the increased capability. It is now possible to integrate many systems that in the past might have existed as different nodes, into the one consolidated architecture. This desire to centralise functionality leads to the poten...

On the Expressiveness of Fixed-Priority Scheduling Contexts for Mixed-Criticality Scheduling

Scheduling contexts allow flattening hierarchical schedules in virtualized mixed-criticality setups. However, their expressiveness in terms of supported higher-level scheduling algorithms is not yet well understood. This paper makes a first step in this direction by investigating how recently proposed mixed-criticality algorithms can be mapped to fixed-priority scheduling contexts and how sched...

Mixed-Criticality Scheduling with Dynamic Redistribution of Shared Cache

The design of mixed-criticality systems often involves painful tradeoffs between safety guarantees and performance. However, the use of more detailed architectural models in the design and analysis of scheduling arrangements for mixed-criticality systems can provide greater confidence in the analysis, but also opportunities for better performance. Motivated by this view, we propose an extension...
